When Revolver Magazine reported Showbread's debut Solid State
Records' release, "No Sir, Nihilism Is Not Practical"
as the best screamo album of the new year in 2004, the stage
was set for Georgias spastic flurry of sound and show, and
the group of seven has yet to decelerate. In the year and
a half that followed their initial release, Showbread toured
with such incessant fervor, that their raw rock creation gained
thousands of fans nationwide.
With the help of Nihilism producer Sylvia Massy Shivy (Tool,
Johnny Cash), Showbread are returning with a sophomore release
highly evolved from their first. The album entitled, Age of
Reptiles, which streets August 1st, doesnt shun Showbreads
original style, but instead works off of it to create something
brand new for the band.
Weve focused on making a concise and extremely catchy rock
record heavily influenced by bands like Nine Inch Nails and
Nirvana, explains Showbread vocalist Josh Dies. We dont ever
want to just repeat something weve already done, so you can
expect this album to resemble the last one very little or
not at all. This record is more direct, more structured, has
more hooks and is the most incredible work of Raw Rock the
world has ever known.
While awaiting the August 1st release, Showbread continue
their tour mission, beginning with a headlining run tomorrow
in Northern California and working its way through the nation.
The six week tour will feature openers, Sullivan, Versus the
Mirror, Royden and the Killing Moon. Says Dies of the tour,
You can expect more craziness, more absurd outfits, more makeup,
more senseless destruction, more over-the-top antics, and
a Temptations cover!
